The possibilities with the Final Fix product to fix any inflatable boat by following the instructions below and paying attention to every steps are simply fantastic. Transom, floor, tear, hole, bumper, handles, seam, brackets and D ring, there is now a real solution. Be awared this product performs strongly and could also be used on paddle board and raft.

Instructions

  • Use acetone to clean the surfaces that need to be glued.
  • Cut a piece of PVC that is 2 inches larger than the hole that needs to be fixed. Make the cut with round corners.
  • Important, sand ONLY the hypalon surfaces.
  • Clean again with the acetone.
  • Allow the acetone to evaporate for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Position the fabric piece over the hole to be repaired.
  • Use masking tape to create a frame around the piece to cover the surface of it.
  • Remove the PVC piece to apply the Final Fix adhesive inside the frame.
  • Apply the glue on one surface.
  • Use the applicator to spread the glue uniformly to avoid air bubbles. Allow a glue thickness of about 1/16 of an inch.
  • Center the fabric piece on the frame, covering the piece with a sheet of paper to prevent gluing hands.
  • Moving from the center toward the outside, apply pressure to the paper.
  • Repeat the motion to ensure uniform adhesion.
  • Let dry for 30 minutes before cleaning.
  • Gently remove the sheet and the masking tape. Remove any excess glue.
  • Use undiluted dish soap to clean surfaces and hands.
  • Let dry for 48 hours before re-inflating boat.

Recommendations and Tips

TRANSOM:

Completely remove the transom from one side, cleaning off the old glue. Repair one side of the boat at first. Use straps to hold transom and flangers. Proceed 24 hours later on the opposite side by following the instructions.

BUMBER:

Clean well to remove the old glue and follow the instructions for repairing. Let’s apply the glue feet per feet to allow an optimal adhesion while replacing the bumper.

HANDLES AND ATTACHMENTS FOR OARS:

Clean well to remove the old glue from the parts and follow the instructions for repairing.

DELAMINATION:

For a large delamination, use PVC 3’x 3’ patches also available.

LARGER TEAR :

Repair from outside following the instructions. If the location of the cut require to make it larger or if this is already a large one, simply repair from the inside, always following instructions.

When done, prepare a patch to cover it from the outside and make a professional look. This will be strong.

FLOOR :

Completely remove the floor from one side, cleaning off the old glue. Position the boat upside down. Repair one side of the boat at first. Use straps to maintain the floor and flangers together. Proceed 24 hours later on the opposite side by following the instructions.

After the tube has been opened, how long does it last?

The product can be stored for two years and once it is opened, a minimum of one year. Always check before discarding the product, as a portion of it may still be usable.

Is it UV resistant?

Yes. The tests have been proven for several years in the Caribbean region.

Is it possible to re-glue the bumpers, handles and attachments for the oars?

Yes. Clean well to remove the old glue on the parts and follow the instructions for repairing. The product also helps to prevent any air infiltration from a seam.

Is it possible to repair a high-pressure floor?

Yes. By following the instructions.

Can I repair water damage coming around the transom?

Yes. Most of the time, it is better to completely remove the transom, cleaning off the old glue. So, repair one side of the boat at first. Then 24 hours later, on the opposite side, following the instructions.

Can I repair a paddle board and/or a raft with this product?

Yes. Any craft made of PVC or Hypalon could be easily and securely repaired with this product.

Can I glue a piece of PVC on Hypalon (or vice versa) with this product?

Yes. This adhesive allows these two materials to be glued together, following the instructions.

Can I glue the towing rings back on?

The strength of the repair made with this product allows it to withstand the pressure and stress exerted by towing.

Is the product allowed on an aircraft?

The glue is solvent-free and can be carried in your luggage stored in the baggage compartment of the aircraft.

Can I seal a portlight?

Yes. First, remove all the old glue. For wood and fiberglass surfaces, sand lightly. Then, clean with acetone and let evaporate completely. Continue the repair following the instructions.

Is it possible to do a repair on aluminum, rubber, wood or fiberglass surfaces?

Yes. For wood and fiberglass, lightly sand first. Then, for all these surfaces, remove the old glue, clean well with acetone and let evaporate completely. Continue the repair following the instructions.

At what temperature should a repair be carried out using Final Fix?

The ideal temperature is between 15 and 30 degrees, simply depending on your own comfort. The product is distinguished by the fact that its use at room temperature does not require any calculation of the humidity level. The important things are to make sure to proceed in a well-ventilated area and to follow the instructions.
